An issue that I feel is so important to consider is the long working hours in Chile. Our country have a neoliberalist system for excellence and this signifies that all the aspects of Chilean life are organized around money. Government only see the value of consumption, as the desicions show when investing in education, health or culture. We all know that this system was brutally imposed by the military dictatorship in 1973, and Chile is known for that (apart from the nice natural landscapes).

So, this is the sad situation of Chile. Every worker needs to increase his productivity working extra-hours, that in some cases are required by contract, because the basics needs are very costly here... and also because we are simply buying much more. People attach great importance to their employment despite feeling a considerable oppression and we know that all work of each person doesn't guarantee their dignified old age.

If the people don't have "free time", I think that is impossible built a good society. We need to reflect, and it takes time, that the Chilean people don't have.

I don't have much hope in the next administration, but I'll stay positive.

In my presentation I will talk about the artist Richard Prince, especially about his work Spiritual America.

Richard Prince is an artist that was born in 1949. He is best known for his technique of rephotography, a formal descendant of Marcel Duchamp's readymades in which the artist takes pictures of pre-existing photographs. This process of rephotographing continued into 1983, when he exhibited a work that was named Spiritual America, where he appropriated of a photo of Gary Gross, an American fashion photographer.

I am interested in this work because the gesture of Prince was make a critical message and met with controversy and confusion for it's spectacular sexualization of a minor, soliciting at once desiring gazes and outraged condemnation.

In Prince's hands, the pedophiliac image provided a way of unlocking the paradoxical nature of this country's collective spiritual disposition. If there is a "religious power" to Prince photo, it has to do in part with its function as an icon of American sipirituality and a corresponding contradictory moralism.

In 2003, I visited Frutillar, a city located to the south of Chile, specifically in the seventh region "Los Lagos".

There is "Teatro del Lago", the most emblematic oeuvre of the city and when I was there, I got to know the construction, that was very amazing experience. The theatre it was constructed with high tecnology in acoustics, so is considered the best acoustic theatre ever built in South America. Frutillar is known as the "City of Music", because each year, on February 27th, is celebrated "The music weekend of Frutillar". Me and my family couldn't attend at the concerts, because we didn't have enough money but the cultural activities in the city was striking for us.

At that time, the city was very visited for tourists that came from differents countries. With my father and sister, we went all over by the lake enjoying the lanscapes. That was the daily routine in the morning! The streets were always very clean, that caught my attention a lot because in my city the people doesn't have the culture to keep their spaces clean. People valued their space and took care of it. Appreciate nature and tranquility made me feel really good, mainly because I was a girl with a lot of imagination. (Like all the children)

It's a place that they have to know :-) !
